Recent Loving: A Very She and Him Christmas & Wispy Hummers

She & Him - The Christmas Waltz by MergeRecords
Jakarta by Wispy Hummers
As we trying to upload our newest collection with this third world's internet connection, some songs had become the finest company. To named a few, there's Frau, Feist, The Royal Tennenbaums's soundtrack, and some random Christmas mixtapes in Soundcloud. So, if there's any of you, our lovely readers, waiting for our newest collection. Please be patient and let these two songs from our favourite musician become your company. If you're not waiting for our collection, then it won't do any harm to listen these lovely tunes. The first track was from the recent albums of She and Him, A Very She and Him Christmas. The second track was from our favorite singer, Wispy Hummers. Happy streaming!

Woopsidaisies!

For God sakes! It's been one month since our last post. Elia just remind me today that we haven't post anything to our blog for one whole month. There's no excuse. On behalf of Simalakamma, I just wanted to say that I'm truly really sorry. I keep procrastinating all the time.
This December, many things had filled our agenda. There's one special project for this holiday season, two festivals to join, and one gift to all of you, our special friends. For any purchase in this month, we will give you free calendar. It's a special calendar, because we made it ourselves, using silk screen technique on canvas. We'll start producing this calendar tomorrow, and we will show you the best photos of this calendar.

More Botswana and Bush Tea Please!

the opening title
Imagine this! In a pale turquoise bowl, mixing Nancy Drew, Sherlock Holmes, a little bit Pink Panther, and generous amount of Africa. The result is The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series. And we love it! (Sorry for the excessive use of exclamation mark.)
This television series which based on novels with the same name by Alexander McCall Smith, brings the life of Mma Precious Ramotswe, the number one ladies detective in Botswana. The agency wasn't the best, but they are the one and only detective agency in Botswana. That makes them become the number one detective agency. In running the agency, Mma Ramotswe gets helped by her secretary, Mma Grace Makutsi. The series also followed the relationship between Mma Ramotswe and Mr. J.L.B Matekoni, mechanics at Speedy Motor.

Our new number

If yo're lucky enough, Chepas and Bibi might replied your text.
If our response through email wasn't quick enough, here's another alternative. You can try to contact us by phone. Here's our number, +6287838300019 (text only). But please be patient, if we hadn't replied your text. Maybe, we are in the middle of something that might very important. Such as saving the world at night and having day job as photographer, just like Peter Parker did. Anyway, can't wait to show you the October girls. Just wait and see (also don't forget to breath and occasionally laugh).

Wash Experiment No.9

We can make it through the rain, but we can't stand Mariah's high notes.
Let me tell you the truth. There wasn't any experiment or washing experiment, as mentioned on the title. We washed the suede. Yes. We wash the suede with water. No kidding. Read my lips once again (or in this case, read the letters). W.e.w.a.s.h.t.h.e.s.u.e.d.e.w.i.t.h.w.a.t.e.r.
We'd learned that suede wasn't supposed to be friends with water. But it only applied to the real suede. In our products, we use synthetic suede. And synthetic suede can be washed with warm water and mild detergent. Throw the worries away, when you used the Simalakamma girls on rainy days. The girls are quite durable than they look.

Bake me up when September end

09b
One of our passport case.
Yeah, I know. The title doesn't funny at all. It's already September. The only September-related song title that I remember was this Green Day's song. And we like to bake any kind of cake. Also "bake" and "wake" have similar sounds. But this is not what I want to write.

The thing that we really wanted to tell was about our newest collection. The September collection. Besides the usual wallets, in this collection, we also have three passport case. The passport case has one big zippered compartment, eight card slots, one coin bag, and all of this handy keepers are wrapped with the most loveliest hand embroideries that ever exist in the history of humankind.

You might notice that the photos from this collection are quite special. We got a tremendous kindness and talent from our pal, Edwin Roseno. We uploaded all of the photos from this collection on Flickr. But you can also check the product section in this blog or log on to Facebook and show your love to Simalakamma's page. We'll meet each other again when we have another interesting thing to write.

Some snaps from our products

Orangish Drops (front side)
Florally Brown (front side)
Circularly Brown (front side)
These are the products of Simalakamma. We hadn't named them yet. What kind of name that suitable for these lovely wallets? Once, we thought to named them with human names, such as Emily, Susan, George, Lil G, X-Code, or other gangsta name, like Steve. But then we realized that we had a problem in remembering any person names. We remember their faces, clothes, or accents, but we find it hard to remember any names.
So, for temporally, we named these wallets according to their appearance. We used names like Circularly Brown or Orangish Drops. As soon as we get creative with names, we'll let you find out.

In a meanwhile, you can see our amateurish photo products on Flickr. Feel free to ask about Simalakamma products through email, simalakamma@gmail.com. Enjoy!

The Buzz, The Blah, and The In-Betweener

garden table turns to working table

So, this is our first entry. This blog comes in the middle of everything. The weather in Yogyakarta, was nothing but inconsistent. Yesterday was hot as hell. Today is the cats-and-dogs-raining time. One of us had just recently discover her robotic ability, so she keep making purses, wallets, and producing tons of pancake. The other one decided to busying herself by making this blog and trying to write in English, the language which only existence to her, in the forms of Arrested Development subtitles.

But, soon you will find out that Simalakamma (that's how we called ourselves) love to make beautiful things. We love to make beautiful wallets, with beautiful patterns and fabrics. And all of this things requires a (most likely) beautiful process. Through this blog, we'd love to share the ups and downs, the low and high, the fragrant and stinky side of our working process. But believe us, although the process was hard, the results are always lovely.

It's always nice to meet you. Hope to see you soon!
